Welcome to my site! My name is Cory
Smith and I live in the greater Chicagoland area. I guess I am an
artist of sorts, as I have no formal training. I started my interest
in art by taking some drawing classes in high school and some figure
drawing at the local community college, where drawing both the male
and female forms and learning about anatomy have helped me as a
sculptor. I have dabbled in many different mediums of art including
pencil sketches, oil on canvas, murals, commercial window art, and
sculpting.
After the introduction of Batman The Animated Series and the slick
designs introduced by Bruce Timm, I was blown away with the show. I
started to collect the Warner Brothers Store Batman Maquettes and
was disappointed when the stores quickly closed and left all
collectors hanging after producing some nice maquettes. That’s when
I decided to pick up where WB left off. I then began to finish the
line and challenged myself to make them better than the WB in terms
of quality and scale. Many maquettes and 5 years later I am almost
done with my goal of sculpting the entire line. I have future plans
to begin sculpting animated maquettes from other lines.
My others interests include drawing, painting, collecting movie memorabilia, dvds, and
spending time with my three sons. Ultimately, I would like to sculpt
full-time as a career so with the help of friends I’ve created this
site to showcase my works.
